Waves on Paper

The sheer pleasure of floating transparent pigments on white paper has always entranced me. Having begun my career painting in watercolour
I have now moved to acrylic inks finding they have a greater clarity and intensity of colour. They are also more lightfast.

By combining the luminosity of inks with the resist nature of oil pastels a technique is created that captures the dynamic qualities of the waves crashing on the Cornish beaches, with their dark ferocity in winter and their glassy green light in summer.
